Positions Available
We currently have two positions available that you can read about below, and then apply for on the Governements ‘Find an apprenticeship’ website. We are looking for an Engineering Operative Apprentice and a Business Admin Apprentice, and whilst each role is different, both of them offer the perfect opportunity for the right candidate.
Level 2 Engineering Operative – Electrical Pathway
Working with a busy production environment, producing high voltage power supply units, populating PCB boards, producing moulds, winding wire and testing completed units. You would also be required to use hand tools and soldering equipments
Apprenticeship Summary
This role will require you to carry out the following tasks:
- Interpretation of circuit drawings and the assembly of PCBs and high voltage power supply units
- Production of moulds
- When required, conduct testing of completed units
- Carrying out repairs to customers returned units
- Packaging of finished products for shipment
- General housekeeping
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for integrity of own work and inspection of the final product to ensure customers requirements have been met
- Recording of manufacture and test history

Level 3 Business Admin Apprentice
Office based initially whilst full training given on the production of the full range of supply units on offer, opportunities to travel within the UK. Establishing and building strong customer relationships with existing and new business customers. Generating quotations using sage and providing post sale technical assistance and customer support.
Apprenticeship summary
The role will be to proactively promote Genvolt and to seek and secure suitable business in order to increase sustainable turnover and profitability.
As a sales engineer you will source new customers and engage with them, implement an overall business strategy by increasing market share and securing new customers through the promotion of key products and services. You will also be required to develop a network of professional contacts within the industry, enabling you to secure customer information and determine their requirements.
Responsibilties will include:
- Being the driving force behind generating new sales leads and industry contacts
- Establish relationships with new customers and maintain them
- Manage and interpret customer requirements
- Persuade clients that a product or service will satisfy their needs
- Calculate client quotations
- Provide pre and post sales technical assistance and product education
- UK and some foreign travel will be required
Knowledge and experience:
- Demonstrate experience of working in a technical sales environment with an electronics bias
- Proven customer account management experience
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Good commercial awareness
- Organisational skills with an analytical approach
